Maybe you've already seen the mural in the yard of @heavyyard through stories, while passing by the street by chance, or when you went out for a drink with friends. If you liked it when you first saw it, you’ll definitely like it even more now that you know its story.
"Real Friendships Overcome the Biggest Waves" is a participatory art piece.
Under the guidance of artist @wanda.direct and the @format.c team, a group of young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds explored their thoughts, emotions, and imagination to tell a story about friendship.
We went through the stages of a creative process together, from ideation and conceptualization to image generation and implementation, overcoming various limitations and fears that stand in the way of free expression. Together, we created a piece of art that reflects our shared vision, but more importantly, we made new friends and gathered memories and experiences that will help us have more courage and confidence to express our ideas and assert our values in the future.

we brought the voices of marginalized youth to the heart of Bucharest through this impactful 100-square-meter mural at Heavy Yard.
This project aimed to give young people from underrepresented communities a platform to express their stories and experiences, transforming a public space into a canvas for their voices. Through this mural, we not only highlighted their creativity but also fostered a sense of belonging and empowerment, allowing their perspectives to be seen and celebrated in the city's urban landscape. The mural stands as a symbol of community, resilience, and the power of artistic expression to connect and inspire.
